FAQS

It is a non-medical cosmetic procedure focused on removing plaque and tartar from the visible surfaces of the teeth and above the gum line. It’s a great way to maintain and freshen breath!

The process is 100% natural.

Our technicians are experts in animal behaviour and we use gentle handling techniques to keep the pet calm and relaxed, yet properly restrained if needed.

We only restrain your pet to the level they require. It all depends on their personality. Your pet will dictate the level of restraint needed.

We will swaddle smaller dogs and wrap all cats in a towel to give them a sense of safety and comfort while we work.

We gently lay the dog/cat on its back in a cushioned, comfortable position.

Small dogs and cats will be wrapped in a towel for comfort.

Most dogs settle into a “zen” state once we begin and realise we are not hurting them.

We work slowly and patiently—if a pet is stressed, we take breaks.

If your pet will not let us proceed, we will and contact you for pick-up. You will not be charged further.

Absolutely. In fact, we specialise in senior pets.

We never push senior dogs; we go at their pace to ensure they stay comfortable.

Since our procedure is all natural and chemical free its a great option!

If your pet becomes overly distressed we will immediately stop the procedure and contact you. You will not be charged further.

To ensure safety, we cannot service:

Overly aggressive pets that may pose a bite risk.
Pets with known severe heart or respiratory (breathing) issues.
Pets with extremely loose teeth or advanced periodontal disease -in these cases, we will refer you to a vet visit and not touch the teeth, it’s important to note our visits do not replace veterinary care.

The deposit secures your specific 45-minute time slot, we only have 6–9 spots available per day, the deposit ensures that our technicians’ travel and time are covered as well as ensuring all pets who are able and ready to be seen, can be seen.

This amount is deducted from your total at the end of the appointment.

Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance that are not moved to the next cleaning date will be forfeit.

Each appointment is approximately 45 minutes.

Owners are welcome to browse the store while they wait.

We do usually ask on a first appointment you stay close for 5-10mins to ensure your pet will allow the service.

We only use professional-grade, pet-safe cleaning agents designed to disinfect our instruments.

*Instruments are cleaned and kept in the cleaning agent between clients then rinsed with water before use.

We cannot promise white teeth as this is a Cosmetic Teeth cleaning procedure.

We will remove the “brown” tartar and plaque buildup, some natural staining of the enamel may remain.

However, you will see a significant visible improvement and hopefully a major difference in their breath!

Please note: Not all breath problems stem only from oral health.

We are not Veterinarians, we do not claim to perform Veterinary Medicine, nor do we diagnose or perform anything other than cosmetic services.

While our services can be used in conjunction, or for example similar to how you change your Oil between Engine flushes in your car, we still recommend that your pet seek Professional Dental Veterinary Care for concerns.

Please feel free to reach out to info@opalteeth.ca with any further questions, concerns, or inquiries. We can’t wait to see you and your pet soon!
